Giving Son Some Property

This English native signed a document in Harford County, Maryland in the 1810s.

  1. This gentleman was James Rampley. Is that what signed? I'm not 100% that it is. I'm thinking the first name really looks like "James" and the first four letters of the last name are "Ramp." The last letter is clearly a "y," but I'm in doubt what is in between and think there are a couple of ways it could be interpreted.
