  1. Her "i"s in Lillian are so clear that it's hard to imagine what is dotted in her last name. "Short" would be my first guess - with Shirt a second.

  2. Mrs. Lillian Short

  3. At first I thought the surname was "Shoit" - a name I know. But after closer examination of the "r" in "Mrs" my guess is
    Mrs Lillian Shirt ??

  4. What one little dot can do. Even with the dot I still think it is Mrs Lillian Short but it could be Shirt or Shoit I guess.

  5. If Tom says he recognizes Shoit as a surname, I go with Mrs. Lillian Shoit.

  6. It's "Mrs. Lillian Short" I know there's a dot of some sort above the last name, but Short is what it was.

Posting this caused me to look her up in 1930--she and her husband are newlyweds living in Houston Township, Adams County, Illinois--something I didn't know.

This signer is a sister to Mrs. Cecil Neill (my grandmother) who was a signer a day or so ago.

  7. Mrs. Lillian Short. Spots are a big problem on microfilmed records, too.
