It All Looks Okay to Me
This official heard evidence in a 1895 case involving a gentleman who died owning property, left a widow and no children, but no will. He was fond of abbreviations apparently.
Mr C Hooker Master in Cly/Cty McColee? Perhaps Cly/Cty is somewhere that only a local would know? It's the same here with us Scots - only a local would recognise the place name :-) Jo
Some guesswork with this one!! Mr C. Hooker Master in Chg ? Co. Ill.
Maybe all of the middle part (Chg ? - or whatever) is an abreviation for a County in Illinois but I'm not familiar with the geography in that part of the world.
OMG, I seriously need to rethink my Family Search volunteer efforts... I put punctuation marks where they didn't exist; and, committed the cardinal sin of 'filling in' what "I" thought they intended to scribble out.
