My First Witness is a Mystery

I will confess that I do not know who the top witness on this document is. Because of that, I'm including more of the document than usual. This is a letter in the Civil War pension signed by Jas. Rampley whose 1907 address was West Point, Hancock County, Illinois. The second witness is John William Hunter. The first one is today's challenge.

  1. Leslie Anevens? I know the first letter is an A, but the name doesn't sound right.

  2. Leslie Anelrens

  3. Leslie Andrews - His family is one family away from a James Rampley in the 1910 census of St. Albans, Hancock County, Illinois. It is indexed as Leolia.

  4. I's go with Detective Koehler and say Leslie Andrews,as the added census information strongly suggests.
