By doing a comparison of the a's and o's in other names I came to the conclusion that the first name could only be Jas. Jas. was the abbreviation for James. The last name could be several different names and would likely lead me to searching both earlier and later census records for confirmation.
Josehp Hyde
ReplyDeleteJas Hyde
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be James Kyle or it could be Myles. Although the M in Moore is different. Maybe Hyles but the H in other names are different.
ReplyDeleteFirst name Jas ( James) Last name- Hyde
ReplyDeleteJos (Joseph) Hyle or Jos Hyde.
ReplyDeleteThere is a similar H in the full census view but the "le" looks like Es, but I also see fading in the middle.
I'll try
ReplyDeleteJas. Hyle (or maybe Hyles)
To me the "H" is very similar to that in the names "Hayfield" and the second "Hartsock" among others.
Jas Kyle, is what you are expecting, I am sure !!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the census enumerator used the same shape for K and H [ grin !! ]
I'm going to say Jas Hyde [Jas for James of course].
ReplyDeleteI think it is Jos (for Joseph) Styles.
