    I'll bet that most transcribers would read this as "E. H. Gudes" - but I think E. H. Gerdes is probably closer to the correct name.

    I first thought E Sd Gerdes (Sd as an abbreviation of Sigurd) but after I saw Judy's and Tom's posts, I have to agree. E. H. Gerdes.
