I agree it could be James Nelson and Jacob L Massy. The second man's middle initial could be S, though. And I get distracted by extras... There's a dot above the last N of Nelson, and then the apparent double-dot after Jacob -- I wonder if the second man's name was Jacobus? (I had a Dutch-English ancestor named Jacobus, also called James.)
